Don’t you hate it when you go through the drive-thru at McDonald’s and there are not enough workers there to get you in and out? Ever felt tempted to just crawl through the window and just grab what you want yourself? That’s the exact circumstances one Maryland woman faced during a night run to Mickey D’s, but she gave into that temptation and walked off with more than what she’d originally ordered, earning her the crime moniker from us as “The Hamburglar.”
Identified as Jessica Marie Cross by law enforcement agents, the woman can be seen reaching through the unlocked drive-thru window after the store was closed and taking a cup. When she tries to fill it, she discovers that she can’t quite reach the drink dispenser. What does she do then? She takes matters into her own hands.
Cross forces her way through the window, dropping the cup on the floor (ick!) on the way in. After she fills up her cup, she continues to wander around the restaurant for a while, grabbing whatever catches her eye. During the time she was in the store, Cross managed to snatch up $1400 cash, a purse, some food, and a box of Happy Meal toys.
After she was done pilfering the store, Cross passed the box full of her ill gotten goods through the window to the person still sitting in her car. Then she went out the same way she came in, through the window. Ronald McDonald, Grimace, and the rest of the gang must have been on high alert.
Luckily for all involved, Cross turned herself into the authorities a few days after the surveillance video of the incident went viral. Although she blocked her face from the cameras on the way out, she was too caught up in the moment on the way in to do so, so her face is clearly visible and recognizable. Justice has been served, but Cross’ actions are still breathtakingly stupid.
