Who says you have to stay in one place to keep a good job? If you've got a serious case of wanderlust and are itching to get out there, consider following these realistic career paths. The world is waiting for you — and so is a paycheck!

Teach English Abroad

There will always be a need for English teachers in countries around the globe. Many programs pay fairly well for people who are willing to spend a year or more in a foreign country and teach English. The best part about this experience is that you don’t have to have a traditional teaching degree, so don’t worry if you didn’t actually study education in college. If you’re smart and willing to jump in, your experience should be amazing for you AND your students.

Work On A Cruise Ship

Not only do you earn a paycheck while traveling the world, but you also don’t have to pay for your meals or lodging. How sweet is that? Cruise ship jobs are also fairly plentiful, so this position is perfect for someone seeking a little adventure.

Freelancer

A major perk of freelancing is that you’re, well, free. Free to do whatever you want and go wherever your talents take you. Living abroad and traveling where ever you can find work can easily satisfy all the wanderlust inside of you.

Flight Attendant

If you’re okay with crazy hours and an unconventional lifestyle, you can travel the world and make good money as a flight attendant. You’ll have to deal with a lot of people and have great customer skills, but there’s no denying that you can totally see the world while you do it!

Bartender

Let’s face it — bartenders will always be needed in countries around the world. If you’ve got good skills behind a bar, chances are you can find work in another country (assuming you’re all good on your visa). Not only this, but you’re bound to meet a lot of interesting people and hear their travel stories.

Work For An International Hotel Chain

If you start at a major hotel chain in your home city, there are often lots of transfer opportunities for foreign locations. Work your way up and your skills and work ethic could end up taking you around the globe!

Photographer

It’s hard to initially start out in a creative field, but if you’re willing to take some risks and depend on your talents, the pay off can be big down the road. Capturing exotic locations in your photographs will also give you more opportunity to get your work noticed. If you love adventure and don’t like to be tied down, consider going this route!

Travel Agent

If you love traveling so much that you think you can help others do the same, consider becoming a travel agent. You’ll have to learn a lot about places all across the globe and how to get there, and chances are you’ll get to go to more than a few of them yourself!

Au Pair

If you’ve ever wanted to work with kids and see the world, becoming an au pair is a great choice. You live with a host family and receive a small salary to watch their kids. You’ll get to experience daily life in another country (although your independent traveling time will be a lot more limited).

World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF)

Working for the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms program is a great outlet for people who love to go on adventures and help others. You give back to the country and people you’re visiting and also get paid for doing it — sounds like a good deal to us.

Tour Guide

If you like to talk and are passionate about a place you’re living in, becoming a tour guide and exuding this passion to visitors can be a full time gig. You can also use your outlets in the industry to experience new places and meet new people.

Work In Government

Studying International Relations or International Business in school? Working in foreign relations or trade is a definite possibility for you, then. While you often won’t have a say in what country you’re stationed in, you can learn a lot from the experience and really boost your professional resume.

Yachtie

This is definitely a more glam and unconventional career path, but it still sounds awesome. Yachties work crazy hours and have a lot of responsibilities catering to the rich and powerful, but it still is a great way to experience a lot of outlandish sights and sounds.

Entertainment Manager

If you can break into the behind-the-scenes work of the entertainment industry, there’s likely a lot of travel opportunities for you. Whether you’re a tour manager for a comedian or musical group or just travel a lot for business-related meetings, working in this industry almost always means you’re jetting a plane on any given day.

Website Designer

If you’re creative and have good coding skills, you can pretty much go anywhere in the world. Living in a digital era means that more and more opportunities abound everywhere you look. Your future career (and passion to experience another culture) might just be a mere click away…
