There’s A New Toilet Design That Prevents Employees From Taking Long Bathroom Breaks

The company, StandardToilet, has designed a toilet that prevents people from using the toilet for more than 5 minutes at a time. The seat of the toilet is sloped forward 13º so that sitting on it for an extended period of time will cause strain on the legs. The founder of StandardToilet, Mahabir Gill, claims that although the seat will make your legs feel uncomfortable after a couple of minutes, the slope of the seat is “not enough to cause health issues.”

StandardToilet claims that this design will help cut down lines in public bathrooms and prevent health issues like swollen hemorrhoids or weakened pelvis muscles.

But those aren’t the main reasons StandardToilet filed a patent on the angled toilet seat. The main reason they made it is what everyone on the internet is talking about.

StandardToilet reports that $20.8 billion are lost every year to workers who take too long bathroom breaks. Their website states that “In modern times, the workplace toilet has become private texting and social media usage space.” With their uncomfortable toilet design, this company says it could increase employee productivity and save about $5.14 billion a year.

This toilet has been met with a lot of criticism. People are claiming that this design is an abuse of power and an invasion of a private space. While some where upset about companies potentially monitoring their bathroom breaks that closely, others were pointing out that this toilet wouldn’t be good for people with disabilities like arthritis and Crohns.

What do you think? Does this invention cross a line? Or is it a good solution to employee unproductively?
