Last month Kierah Lagrave, 22, was having a night out at Five1Eight nightclub, where she’s also an employee, when someone struck her rear from behind. Police told the Press-Republican that the 5-foot-1, 125-pound Lagrave then walked up behind the club’s bouncer and strangled him until he fell to the floor unconscious.
In the video above, you can see a woman in a Plattsburgh, NY, nightclub choke a bouncer out because she thought he slapped her butt. But if you watch the alternate camera angles that show a view from the bar, her friend is clearly the culprit. “The surveillance video clearly shows that Lagrave’s friend slapped her on the buttocks [beforehand],” Plattsburgh City Police Chief Levi Ritter told the Press-Republican.
When authorities questioned Lagrave about the encounter, she admitted to choking the man but said it was only because she thought he grabbed her. Since that was not the case, she was arrested and charged with a felony of second-degree strangulation. Though it was just a misunderstanding, police seemed keen on making an example out of her. Shortly after her arrest, she was released on her own recognizance. When the bouncer was questioned about why he didn’t try to stop the choke-out, he said that he thought it was just a friend playing a joke on him and wanted to play along.

What do you think about this story? Was Lagrave justified in her physical retaliation for an unwanted sexual advance, even though she was mistaken? Was her punishment of a felony charge too harsh? Let us know in the comments down below!
