Target Supermarkets announced this past Monday that they will be introducing a new private food label named “Good & Gather” in an attempt to boost the company’s declining grocery sales within their immensely popular retail model. The brand will begin to appear on shelves September 15th, but how exactly will a new brand help increase grocery sales for Target?

Information initially reported by CBS News.

When Good & Gather releases next month, it will include a total of 650 products ranging from meat, pastas, milk, and eggs. But what makes them different from the other brands Target has introduced in the past? The primary difference being Good & Gather products will not include any artificial flavoring, coloring, artificial sweeteners, or contain high fructose corn syrup, ultimately creating a healthier line of food products that Target hopes its customers will eat up.

Target hopes that by this time next year, Good & Gather will include up to 2,000 different types of products. In the meantime, the supermarket chain is focused on downsizing and ultimately eliminating current Target brands “Archer Farms,” “Simply Balanced,” and trimming cutting down on the “Market Pantry” line.

Do you think this is a step in the right direction for Target food brands, and do you think the idea of more organic food options will catch on? Will you be switching over to Good & Gather once the line drops in September? Let us know in the comments below!
