For the past 84 years, the game of Monopoly — aside from Junior Monopoly — has been relatively unchanged, gameplay wise. Sure, there have Star Wars, professional sports, tourist attractions, and other themes over the years, but the game has pretty much been the same since it was first introduced in 1935.
That all changes now with the introduction of Ms. Monopoly:

Hasbro, the toy giant who publishes Monopoly, announced the updated version of the classic board game with the above tweet on Monday, September 10, 2019, stating, “Meet Ms. Monopoly! Mr. Monopoly’s niece, a self-made investment guru, is here to celebrate women trailblazers and update a few things. It’s about time!”
So, what’s the big update?
For starters, women will collect $240 in Monopoly money each time they pass “GO” while men will continue with the standard $200, according to Hasbro (via CNN).
The company described the update as “a fun new take on the game that creates a world where women have an advantage often enjoyed by men.”
Another change that will certainly not go unnoticed is the lack of properties, which have been replaced by female inventions like Wi-Fi and chocolate chip cookies.
What do you think? Will you play this updated version of Monopoly, or will you continue to allow the original version bring endless hours of capitalism (and arguments) to your family game night?
