On November 17 2018, two English Soccer fans became heavily intoxicated and assaulted a Burger King employee after a rugby match between the UK and Japan.
Following a large bout of drinking, whereby both fans had consumed roughly 10 pints of various adult beverages each, the men ventured into a Burger King, one of whom was accompanied by their also inebriated mother. After their mother vomited into her Burger King bag, and the bathroom was found to be occupied by their group, the two men proceeded to jump onto the counter and began horsing around.
One of the hooligans then began to film the staff. The employee, intimidated by this bizarre display of aggression snatched the phone away, and was then dragged over the counter by said hooligans.
Accusations were made that the behavior was perhaps racially motivated, however the court ruled this out as a motivating factor and charges were revoked.
After the incident and a year long court struggle the two hooligans were given fines of roughly 250 American Dollars for assault. Do you think that the punishment fits the crime? Was the employee out of line for snatching the phone away from them, even if they were using it to harass him? Let us know what you think in the comments!
