Creating this list makes me wish I was a kid again. Things were much simpler then! I could play outside all day and not worry about anything other than if my jelly shoes would hold up. (Please tell me y’all remember jelly shoes). These products are about to trigger your nostalgia. Do you remember them?
*1. Hubba Bubba Bubble Jug *
While they still sell rolls of HB gum at check out counters, you certainly don’t see this bad boy of a mega tank supply often. This would have made my coach-pitch softball team so very happy. Looking at it now, my jaw hurts. I forgot this existed.
*2. Doodle Bears *
I never had the luxury of owning one of these prime 90 nostalgia bears, but you can bet I was jealous of all the people in my neighborhood who brought them around to play. It was like they were rubbing it in my face. In hindsight, I’m glad I didn’t own one of these because I would have doodled disasters, surely. Definitely forgot these existed.
*3. Disney Read-Along Cassettes *
I thought I was the coolest kid on the block having one of these cassettes. But then I forgot I ever had one.
4. Street Sharks
No way did any of us remember street sharks existed. I’m vividly remembering the boys in my grade school who would bring these to play with at recess. They all had long shaggy hair and were introduced to Mountain Dew a little too early. But these toys do look pretty cool.
5. Flying Gliders
I feel like I saw these everywhere ALL the time and then suddenly I didn’t. And then I forgot they existed.
6. Zoobooks
The commercials for these babies were always so enticing. I remember my mom FINALLY ordered a subscription for my brother and I to share and we read them all. Either the subscription mysteriously ended (@ my mom???) or they stopped making these because I don’t even remember what the last Zoobook I read was. BRB time to take a trip to my mom’s house to see if she still has them!
7. Rubber Poppers
I was constantly frustrated by these things when they’d appear in goodie bags from childhood parties and what not, probably from Chuck E. Cheese or Tumble Drums. Were you ever able to get these to pop? They never worked for me and thus, I forgot about them.
8. Flip Video Camera
I was lucky to get a camera at all, but wasn’t quite lucky enough to reach Flip Video Camera level status. My neighbor was, however. I’m not bitter. I’ve simply forgotten all about it.
9. Nerf “Bow ‘N’ Arrow” Set
If only I knew who Katniss Everdeen was when these were around, my imagination would have run wild. Nerf guns/weaponry wasn’t really a big thing for my friends. My brother had a couple but shot one up at our skylight and then they were banned. So thus, forgotten.
10. Hit Clips
Last, but not least, my personal favorite thing to remember I owned ever 2-3 years: Hit Clips. Or, as I liked to call them as a child, “Hip Chips”. Don’t ask, I don’t know where I got that from. When people start talking about how old iPods make them feel, I love to bring up these bad boys. The original iPad. I listened to the same 45 seconds of a song every day and I was better for it.
Do you remember all these? Let us know in the comments.
