Not every company can be like Netflix and offer year-long maternity leaves — a practice even Netflix doesn’t even offer every time. However, this five-year-old startup out of Utah is giving a new look at maternity benefits.
Domo, a computer software company, is giving every pregnant woman at the company $2,000 in gift cards to buy maternity clothes. While this may not seem like a big deal to many people, those who have had to work while pregnant will understand why this is a great perk. Having to spend money on maternity clothes sometimes feels like a waste. You only need them for a short amount of time and they are surprisingly expensive. The price only increases when you need to keep a professional appearance at work, but still want to look like you have some fashion sense.
Domo doesn’t offer a huge maternity leave as is (employees receive one month leave at full pay and then six weeks at partial pay) but this added perk has certainly helped make the process a easier for mothers-to-be. lets employees know their time in and out of work is valued within the company.
What do you think? Would you appreciate something like this from your current employer?
